Where to start?
Tune in for exclusive research on thepoetlibby's top 7 latest dating apps!
With over 10 years of browsing online dating sites, I’ve taken the liberty of conducting some research on the top 7 dating apps I would recommend on the App Store. Some or all of these apps are also available on Android devices. Here to do the work so you don’t have to. If you haven’t done so already, go check out my blog post on how to get started on a dating site!
Moreover, follow along as I break down these sites and provide pointers on what they offer, what you can access for free, and the best uses for each app. Dating has never been more modern. You don’t even have to leave your home to make a meaningful connection or find a quick hookup. Dating is a part of life if you’re interested in falling in love or having sex. I look at it as a job interview. So, follow my format of key points for each app, their rank in this list, and more!
For the next week, I will be revealing 1 app daily on each post. Stay tuned and read all about the latest online dating apps.
Today, we will be continuing with number 2! One More after this!
Hinge (Ranking #2)

- # Of users, Rating & creator: 400 M | 4.5 stars | Hinge INC.
- The idea behind the name (slogan): Designed to be deleted. The idea here is to intentionally date. Find your perfect match and delete the app.
- User-friendliness: The app is very easy to use. When you make an account, it prompts you to fully set up your profile so that you get more matches, and they added new features to make the experience more successful in your search for love. You also get a daily “most compatible”; this person matches your preferences and may also be a good match to check and see if there are sparks there. However, this algorithm isn’t perfect, so sometimes there are duds.
- Format: This app has 5 tabs. Tab 1 is where you will browse to find your perfect match to delete the app. Tab 2 is where you’ll see standout profiles. Here you can browse through handpicked people and choose 1 to give them a rose. You get 1 rose per week, but you can buy more. Tab 3 is where you will see who likes you, and you also have the option here to boost your profile. Tab 4 is for your chats to get to know your matches. You have the option to call and video chat with your match. Tab 5 is where you’ll set up your profile, preferences, and you have access to the settings here too

- User preference: For free, you can decide on gender, location, age, ethnicity, and religion. For preferred members, you have other options such as height, children, family plans, education level, politics, and habits.
- Features:
- For free:
- Accessing to browsing matches
- 10 handpicked standouts for you to send a rose to
- You get 1 rose a week
- You can see who liked you 1 person at a time
- Chat with who you match with
- Set up your profile with videos and pictures
- answer prompts with 1 bonus audio prompt
- answer prompts with 1 bonus audio prompt
- Preferred Member – 29.99 Per month:
- Get twice as many dates
- See everyone who likes you all at once in a once-organized place.
- Set advanced preferences – education, family plans, politics, and vices.
- Send unlimited likes – find your person sooner.
- Extras
- You can purchase more roses
- You can also purchase boost to get more matches
- My personal experience: I enjoyed using Hinge with the free month trial, and even now that it’s free. You can really find great people to talk to and potentially date if it gets to that. It’s amazing how many versions of your type they will find lol. One time, with the most compatible feature, they kept trying to match me with someone I already matched with. It didn’t work out, and it was awkward because if the app pays attention to these things that should not have happened twice. If you’re looking to date intentionally and delete the app, then try this one!
- Final comments: You may still find people who are looking for hookups here; try to report them because this app is not for hookups. Kindly redirect them to Tinder, HUD, or even Badoo.
Tomorrow we will be discussing Number 1 on the list!
