Where to start?

Tune in for exclusive research on The Poet Libby's top 7 latest dating apps!

With over 10 years of browsing online dating sites, I’ve taken the liberty of conducting some research on the top 7 dating apps I would recommend on the App Store. Some or all of these apps are also available on Android devices. Here to do the work so you don’t have to. If you haven’t done so already, go check out my blog post on how to get started on a dating site!

Moreover, follow along as I break down these sites and provide pointers on what they offer, what you can access for free, and the best uses for each app. Dating has never been more modern. You don’t even have to leave your home to make a meaningful connection or find a quick hookup. Dating is a part of life if you’re interested in falling in love or having sex. I look at it as a job interview. So, follow my format of key points for each app, their rank in this list, and more!

For the next week, I will be revealing 1 app daily on each post. Stay tuned and read all about the latest online dating apps.

Today, we will be starting at the bottom of our list:

View of the profile and information you can put on there.
  • # Of users, Rating & creator: 4 M | 4.6 stars | Affinity Apps, LLC
  • The idea behind the name (slogan): To meet black singles nearby. The mission is to find black men and women to connect with on a deeper level or to have a casual fling with.
  • User-friendliness: Easy to use and sign up for! Have fun setting up your profile. Uploading pictures, bio, etc. Add up to 6 pictures. Basic settings include your birthday, gender, about me, current work, and current school. Personal information includes what you’re looking for, pets, children, astrology signs, religion, and education. For appearance, you state your height and body type. Last is your habits, here you will display if you exercise, drink, smoke tobacco, and if you’re a stoner. One thing I had trouble with was finding where to put what I’m looking for, but if you go to the settings, you’ll be able to choose from a very small list of things to personalize your experience in searching.
Dating options on this app.
  • Format: Very simple outline of the app, you have 4 tabs to browse through. On the free side of things, you only get access to 3 of these tabs because you can only see who likes you with the elite membership. One tab is for your profile and settings. Just a reminder that this app lets you delete your account in the settings. Then there’s the tab to find matches. The final tab is the chatting tab, where you can get to know your matches.
  • User preference: In seeking what you’re looking for, you only get to decide 3 things: distance, age, and gender.
  • Features:
  • For free:
    • You have access to meeting black singles near you.
    • Customize preferences to look for the right partner for you.
    • You’ll get specific profiles to check out daily.
    • Once you match, you can talk to the person you matched with.
    • Limit on how many likes you can send daily.
  • Premium – $9.99 per month:
    • Rewind on a person if you passed them or liked them by accident.
    • You’ll get 5 “really” likes daily that will allow you to stand out and let the person know you really want to match.
    • Each month, you’ll be able to boost your profile for 30 minutes to put you front and center.
    • Send as many likes as you want.
    • No Ads.
  • Elite – $19.99 per month:
    • You get all the premium benefits.
    • Then you get to see who has liked you and decide to instantly match with them.
  • My personal experience: I didn’t really like the app for myself because of the lack of preference settings for looking for a partner. I would have liked to have the option to pick and choose whether I wanted to see smokers vs nonsmokers and other details like that. The app offers very good deals on its features compared to the competitors. There also aren’t enough users on the app to have more options. If people in your area aren’t using this app them options will be limited. As this app grows, it has potential as it is already reaching the same number of users as blackpeoplemeet.com in less time.
  • Final comments: It’s a decent app and straightforward forward, but I would’ve liked to see more options in the preferences. More people would need to join the app as well.
