The Why of the “high turnover” in jobs.

These are my views on workplace environments and how they are the cause of high turnovers for employers.

The job, the task, is never the problem it’s always the trickle-down of information from the top and how it’s inconveniently implemented for employees at the bottom of the food chain.

You cannot go changing things without explanation or proper warning. Without proper training. The moment you become careless in this sensitive interaction. It will cause a toxic bug to infect your work environment. Letting this bug loose will be the demise of that workspace.

This leads to high turnover with employees who flee the incessant behavior of the ones they were supposed to look up to and trust. Also, if you are in a leadership position and you are not an exemplary leader that affects your employees as well. You cannot be a good leader with a “do as I say not as I do mentality”

This is detrimental and causes a strain between teammates as they begin to catch on to how things work in the environment. Each one out for themselves instead of working as a team. The family environment becomes invaded with new faces who aren’t aware of the changes.

That’s how the toxicity builds up. Seasoned employees are forced to comply and act as if they are okay because guess what? We are here for the money. We are motivated by our need to survive and that is the ONLY reason we put up with this shit.

Let me tell you something. There is power in numbers and if we all stand up … we can make real change. I know that most of the time we lose hope because we have been shut down with our efforts, but you’re not supposed to give up or take no for an answer when it comes to injustice in the workspace.

We have to spend a third of our lives at work. Why not make it enjoyable? Work doesn’t have to be serious all the time. We need to stop measuring people with numbers because it’s so outdated. I propose to place people in places where they will thrive and not leave people in positions where they are miserable and in dire need of mental stimulation. We are not robots.

I digress, one more thing since this is now weighing in your conscious, the way the employer treats their customers will soon bear the same treatment as the employees as they lose themselves in their restlessness and lose all motivation.

The point is you cannot sit here and blame an employee for leaving or losing their ‘touch’ if you don’t provide a steady platform for them to grow. Giving employees false hope is unethical and honestly disgusting in the large scheme of things.

It’s one thing to tell the employee to meet the standard and criteria of what is needed regarding the job description and then present them with faulty software, equipment, and unexplainable things happening within the workspace that just cause a strain to the environment itself and workload with no compensation being added to what we’re being given as it is. Then we have some companies who are generous, and they do this but that does not justify the toxic behavior in the environment that causes an unnecessary strain on people who are just trying to come into work and do their job and get the fuck out.

Maybe I’m just too sensitive or I think too much but from my observations, these words I have spoken should be sufficient enough to start a conversation. If we don’t know there’s a problem how can we acknowledge it or fix it?
